You know how when you walk into a store (cosmetic in this case) fill your fancy little basket full of everything you want and head over to the cashier believing that you’re done shopping for the rest of the month and then the cashier who is conveniently surrounded by half a dozen interesting products that you hadn’t seen anywhere around the store enthusiastically suggests that you need to have this one product because it fell from heaven just two days ago, is a total must have with a offer of a lifetime. This was exactly how Maybelline New York’s the Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara made its way into my life and I have been hooked since. I hardly reach out for any other mascara just because this does the job. I have repurchased this mascara quite a few times over the years and its an absolute favorite.
Packaging: It is a royal blue plastic (like all Maybelline mascaras)in a rocket like shape referring to its name with fuchsia printing on it.
This particular mascara is not waterproof but they have a waterproof version of this too if I am not wrong. I do not personally like waterproof mascaras so I am quite content with it.
The consistency of this mascara is very smooth unlike others I’ve tried and doesn’t feel heavy on the lids.
The best part of this mascara is it’s wand which is in my opinion, fabulous.
The wand looks like this:
The short, soft and evenly distributed bristles help separate the eyelashes therefore not forming mascara clump yet add volume to it. YES! This separates the lashes and still manages to add so much volume while managing to make it look oh-so natural with no flaking whatsoever. Natural, voluminous and separated are three adjectives I lovee to see a mascara do. Also I have noticed that my lashes have grown significantly since I have been using it. I have been using this mascara since the time it was first launched a few years back. What makes it even more amazing is that it does not cost half your fortune. It is sold under $10 but in some parts of the world you have to pay little bit more.
However, this mascara does not add length to your lashes. It is not a lash lengthening mascara and if you try adding length with it, it becomes all spidery looking and clumpy which is not a pleasing look. The other thing I have noticed is that it dries off very quickly, that is not a bad thing necessarily but that also means you need to work on your lashes very quickly. For instance, if I do 3 coats of it on my lashes then decide I need a few more coats, adding those coast later on makes my lashes look spidery and clumpy so that’s a bit annoying.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
Keep Smiling! Xx
