A Limited Stila Haul

A Limited Stila Haul

That huge Boots store somewhere between Oxford street and regents street terrified me even a notch higher than how Sephora makes me feel. They just seem to have all the right stuff, after rummaging through thee ground floor with a full basket, horror-struck me and I just pulled myself out of the damn store but only of course after picking up some makeup too. So as always I wanted to share the makeup I got so here it is…

I have never used anything from Stila before because nothing really stood out or made it to my wish-list. However I always wondered what they’d be like…

I was out of eye liner of any kind at this point so I had made a note to pick a good eyeliner or two during this trip. So i went ahead and picked up 6 eyeliners since. 😛

I started with this pack of 3 eyeliners from Stila. It was one of those ‘I need a new eyeliner and I get 3 for a good price so why not buy them without too much thought’ kind of purchase.

This value set is called ‘morning to moonlight’ and has two smudge stick eyeliners’ in ‘Stingray’ and ‘Lionfish’, and a Stay All Day liquid eyeliner in ‘Intense Black’.
I ended up loving them so much that I wish I had stocked up more(although even Eeyore would know the next time I will run out of eyeliner would at least be after a good 5 years).

Next I also picked up their ‘Stay All Day’ liquid lipstick set in “naturally nude”.

I have never used any of their lipsticks naturally and hadn’t tried many liquid lipsticks too. I taught buying the set would let me experiment them in 3 different shades. I went in for the nude set as opposed to the pink and the red one was since I felt this was just safe and there was more chances of me making use of them. The 3 liquid lipsticks come in the mini-size.

If I am not wrong both these were 2016 holiday sets. I had purchased them when they had first come out in November last year.I purchased each of the above for 18 pounds.  I know limited editions, not available anymore, is an annoying thing to make a post about. However these lipsticks and eyeliners’ are available in full size on the Sephora and Boots website for anyone interested. 🙂

Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator | FIRST IMPRESSION

Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator | FIRST IMPRESSION

I am foraying into something so much recently that my impatience never allowed me to before. I have been experimenting and looking out for some good skin care products out there in order to be able to take care of mine. In my almost mid twenties I have been countering time and again the phenomena of aging. And like my best friend always used to drill my brain in college saying how one you hit your twenties there’s no slowing down.
I was graciously handed this sample along with a few more at a Elemis spa quite a few months ago and since then been dying to use it up to give you guys a first impression.
A first impression because it would be unfair to judge a skin care product by just a few uses.

I got a deluxe sample containing 15ml of product.

The product description according to the Elemis website:

Reveal radiant, soft skin with this gentle exfoliator. Micro-spherical Jojoba beads are blended with hydrating Rose Absolute to gently exfoliate the surface of the skin leaving it silky smooth and soft to the touch. Cucumber extract, rich in Vitamin C, a natural anti-oxidant, moisturises as it soothes and refreshes. Use weekly to buff away dirt and dead skin cells to achieve a glowing, youthful complexion.
The first thing I noticed when I used it was that it was definitely gentle on the skin and the strong smell of roses. The product is clear,gel-like and has small pink beads. They are in no way harsh on the skin. They helped calm my skin but does not moisturize. The skin does feel soft after use though.
A 50ml tube is priced at 30 pounds.
This is a really nice exfoliator if you are looking for something cooling, gentle and for every day use. However for me personally nothing was exceptionally good or intriguing for me to go get the full size.
Have you used this product? What do you think of it?
February & March Book Haul

February & March Book Haul

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

I’ve been reading a lot lately and I am thrilled by it. It has been something I have consciously wanted to get back to and imbibe into my lifestyle. I read a lot in middle school and high school. I read good books, books that eventually aided me in ways that I perhaps cannot have imagined then and even now. It satisfied the dreamer in me.

Then when university and life happened I did not read as much and the one or two that I did read were in my opinion the more frivolous ones like Sophie Kinsella that made me giggle and chuckle. I needed that laugh amidst all the tests and awaiting to be completed assignments. However somewhere in the back of my head I made a promise to myself quite often that eventually I am going to get back to reading books that somewhere left a little note in my heart and somewhere with the fear of sounding cheesy touched my soul.

Since the beginning of this year I have been making my own little records with a book or three that touched my soul and I am content. And that’s important I guess.

I love haul posts and I am loving these book haul posts because one day long time some one shared with a tiny me a big fat book she read. And that was how I got a friend for life and ‘Anne of Green Gables’ became one of my favorite books ever.

So now let’s get to the haul itself. Since I have combined hauls of two months I will tell you what I thought of the books that I have read already and tell you what I am kind of expecting of the books I still haven’t read.

Also is everyone in awe of how new books feel, look and smell? Or is it just me?

I picked up the new Chetan Bhagat book, ‘ONE INDIAN GIRL’,  in Dubai last month which I ended up reading on my flight back. I have never read any of his books but I have watched a movie or two that was based on his books. The title held out to me and I am all for strong woman so I wanted to give it a try.

I loved the strong, realistic and relatable protagonist. I was in awe of her achievements and even her busy lifestyle. I loved how she loved her numbers and I hated how true the portrayal of sexism was. I was not necessarily thrilled about the style of writing and I quite disliked the direct- translation-like parts in the book. It’s like watching a dubbed version of your favorite cartoon on Nickelodeon.

Next is a book that I have searched the corners of the internet in an attempt to purchase it for over a year now. I have followed some of Twinkle Khanna’s blogs and she has the kind of humor I live for. In a world where most are either funny and stupid or insightful and boring, she is a brilliant crossover.

I love her writing style, satire and the ease in which she tells you all. ‘MRS. FUNNYBONES’ was a fun read.

I also got her second book ‘THE LEGEND OF LAKSHMI PRASAD’ too because why not right?!

The content of this was different yet refreshing. If Mrs. Funnybones was urban, elusive and funny, this one was deep, rooted and intelligent. She has the kind of humor that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. She makes fun of things that people choose to be more uptight and blind towards. I was surprised but I liked it. I also learnt a thing or two about how to make sanitary pads too. 😀

Those were the three books I read in February. Now to my march haul and what I am expecting from them

After having successfully read in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, I came across ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’. I was wondering why no one was talking about them and then it slipped out of my mind. I saw it a again at a bookstore recently and wondered why I never read it. Eventually early this week I decided to take the plunge and made an online purchase.

The thing about good memories is that you protect it with all your might and Harry Potter is one such good childhood memory. I’ve sobbed my way through the last two books and the memory was etched deep and I have always wondered what had happened to Harry. I am still half-way through the book so I can’t really say whether I liked it or not but to be really honest I don’t really feel the magic as of yet.

The book is based on Harry’s tribute to Dumblebore and Snape, his son, Albus Severus Potter. Currently I just wanted to wave my wand and throw him to the wall but maybe …just maybe I might end up liking it. Have you read this one yet? If so, I kinda want to know your thoughts.

Next is a book, ‘BEHIND HER EYES’ by Sarah Pinborough’, I bought solely on gut-feeling. Something about the cover and the title was so intriguing that I had to pick up. Doesn’t it look super mysterious?

I had to read a few pages just because I couldn’t resist. So far it sounds like a good thriller and the style of writing is simple and just right.

A couple of years ago I made a little list of books-to-read and then subsequently lost it. Somehow I remember jotting ‘PICTURE PERFECT’ by Jodi Picoult down in my list so when I saw it at the bookstore I thought I should find out why it had made it on my list all that while ago.

I don’t know what I should expect from the book but I am curious. Has anyone read it?

The final book in this haul is ‘THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN’ by Paula Hawkins. This book was recommended to me by at least two people so I wanted to check what the whole deal was about.

I have to be honest that I almost decided not to get it at the bookstore. I really don’t know if this is my cup of tea but I decided to find out anyway so I shall get back to you on my thoughts. (Also don’t forget to follow me on Instagram :* ).

This was one fulfilling post to write and quite long too I must admit! 😀

I am pretty excited to get through reading the rest of my books. What have you been reading? Any recommendations? I’d love to know so please do leave a comment and links to your blogs! 🙂

KIKO MILANO HAUL

KIKO MILANO HAUL

While I was travelling around Europe I made time for some KIKO shopping in Milan during my honeymoon. I mean to be honest I couldn’t resist although I needed none but wanted everything but boy am I glad or what that I did because these are some fine stuff right here.
I have been wanting to share this for a while now along with some more exciting hauls I made but then i am still trying to get my routine back and do posts on time. That struggle shall continue and I shall keep bulking on hauls after hauls. Although I have managed to get some fulfilling reviews  out there recently I just have to get back to business and I’m a lazy bum.
I have always viewed KIKO as an amazing brand for eye makeup namely eyeliners’ and mascaras. However every time I stepped into a KIKO store I was repeatedly reminded of how much variety they have in terms of all kinds of makeup. Their price point is somewhere in between drugstore and high-end. I kept frantically running around the store trying to make good decisions and all in vain.
I did pick up a few eye liners because at that point I literally had just one liner in my collection and I was looking for some good ones.
I picked up a beautiful berry lipstick and some eyeshadow sticks for experiments sake.

Firstly lets talk about the beautiful berry lipstick that I absolutely didn’t need but picked up anyways. Its matte and I just wanted to check out how their lipsticks are. This one is pigmented, velvety and the color is gorgeous. Its called Passion in case you’re wondering.

I also picked up a very thin kohl pencil in black that I thought would be ideal for my waterline since I like using it very precise and not over the top or have raccoon eyes.

Then I got their fancily named ‘Lasting Precision Automatic Eyeliner and Kohl’ in Mattita Occhi because I am always all about that color.

The final two were a very tough decision to make amidst so many lovely versatile shades.

‘The Long Lasting Stick – 8 hour no transfer eyeshadow’ stick is true to its description. I got a bronzy shade that I felt was neutral enough to use in many ways.

But then as much as I love my neutrals I am a sucker of some color especially blue. I am/was the girl who loved blue. Their Sparkling Trail Eyeshadow stick collection had just launched and of course I couldn’t escape the desire of bringing one with me so I unsurprisingly chose a brilliant blue.

That was all of my KIKO haul I squeezed in. Does it ever happen to any of you guys where you really don’t understand why you had to buy everything you did? Like why? Also have you tried anything from KIKO? If so, what is your absolute favorite? Share it with us all in a comment below. 😀
